Thor's Hammers

Thor's hammers were popular amulets during the Viking Age.  Thor, the god of thunder, had a magical hammer called Mjollnir.  He used this hammer to protect both gods and mortals. Hence the Thor's hammer was worn as a talisman of protection, as well as by followers of Thor.  Thor's hammers have been found in Anglo Saxon burials as well as viking sites.
While most Thor's hammers that are offered for sale are replicas of old pieces, Master Ark has created original Thor's hammers, inspired by the originals.

       

    This is Master Ark's bronze Thor's hammer.  The photograph shows both the front and the back of the hammer.

This Thor's hammer is a one of a kind piece carved from elk antler.   

The hammer is set with garnets, a stone commonly used during the Viking Age.  Garnet is a stone of strength and grounding.  It is said to aid one in connecting with past lives.  The silver bail at the top of the hammer is made from an old silver bracelet.  This was also common in ancient cultures; reusing bits of metal in a piece of jewelry.

This Thor's hammer is carved from elk antler and is set with a piece of amber.  The bail is sterling silver.  It is 7 cm long, including the bail.

This Thor's hammer is made from a piece of elk antler.  The viking rune for elk is the rune of protection.  The hammer is set with a piece of amber, highly prized by the vikings and frequently worn as jewelry.  Behind the amber is a piece of meteorite which can be clearly seen.  Since Thor was the god of lightening and thunder, a piece of "sky stone" in this hammer helps strengthen the connection to Thor and adds its own magical power to the piece.
